Health standards

Tested beyond a single panel.

Before entering a breeding plan, every dog completes the age-appropriate health evaluations recommended for Dachshunds by the Dachshund Club of America and the OFA CHIC program, including cardiac, patellar, and eye evaluations.

We also use Embark’s breeder DNA panel, which currently screens 270+ genetic health risks and 55 physical traits. Supplemental testing through UC Davis or another qualified laboratory is added when a dog’s lineage, traits, or planned pairing calls for it. DNA screening complements—not replaces—hands-on veterinary and OFA evaluations.
